My upgraded 4.4.1 no longer seems to have the constant restarts logged in every previous build. Has this issue been somehow fixed in 4.4.1?

No, it it just has less of a footprint.

Third time I've given this advice.
Install the IIS patch, upgrade to latest DNN 4.4.1
Even if 4.4.1 fixes it for you I still recommend installing this IIS patch

Righto! I'll look into the patch and get my host to install it.. should be fine :)

Good luck. It took my host 2 months and about 20 emails before I could persuade them to install it.

Out of curiousity, i just checked my server. For instance, the file version of aspnet_wp.exe on my server is 2.0.50727.210, dated 12-sept-2006, whereas the patch that is being talked about here (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/920970) states that the file version is 2.0.50727.166, dated 13-Jun-2006. The version on my server is part of this security patch: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/Bulletin/MS06-056.mspx

Maybe I'm just dumb, but i assume that the "fix" in version 2.0.50727.166 is also part of 2.0.50727.210. Otherwise, it might be a bad idea to revert to an older version and miss the security patch of the newer version...
