I am running DNN 6.1.5 with the newest version of AD provider, IIS 7.5, Classic Apppool mode

This is for a pubic website that only internal users will login to, so we do not want auto login, instead they will login using a login control.

Everything with the AD provider is working perfectly EXCEPT, the first time any user loads the site, they are instantly redirected to: http://domain/DesktopModules/AuthenticationServices/ActiveDirectory/WindowsSignin.aspx and that displays a 500 error.

If they try the site again, it loads fine.

Any ideas on how to correct this problem?

Two ways you should be able to do it. One would be to go into the settings under Admin-Extensions-AD provider and set the AutoLogin ip to 127.0.0.1 or open the web.config for your site and comment out all instances of in the and sections of it. This will stop the redirect to windowssignin.aspx.

I don't know for sure if the first suggestion will work as I've never tried it but in theory it should. For sure the second suggestion will.

I have a similar problem - I'm trying to use A/D authentication but NOT auto-login.  I tried adding the 127.0.0.1 in the extension config as suggested and it works great on desktop browsers, and the iPad, but from the iPhone i get an error "too many redirects" and it won't load the page.  It appears as if the part of your message indicating what to delete (or comments out?) from the web.config is missing some pieces can you re-post it? Or maybe you have some other ideas on how to get it to work on the iPhone?
