Update: The problem is the message center module. After adding this module, the behaviour changed back. After deleting it, it works as expected.

What Settings are needed for the message center to avoid this?

Best wishes
Michael

no idea, this is news to me - and i dont think is the same on each site e.g. dotnetnuke.com seems to have message centre module working fine. Do you mean if you add the message centre module to the same page as the profile module or are you talking about seperate pages (and if so are they both children of a common parent)?

Cathal,

I put the Message Center module on the same page as the ViewProfile module, and made it visible for registered users (as the page and therefore the ViewProfile module are visible for everyone).

Best wishes

thats the problem then - the message centre module has logic to check if the user accessing it is different from the logged in user and if so redirect to the page for the logged in user (this stops people reading other peoples emails) - whereas the view profile module does not contain this logic, instead when it's displaying the profile it checks the site/users visibility settings to determine what to show.

As such the 2 cannot really work on the same page - this is why in the default core install we create a seperate child page and put the message centre there and have a link to it from the user profile page (AFAIR we use the console module to create the nice sidebar links for the various user services such as message centre etc.)

Cathal,

this is not true, as I never changed the profile page. The default is both modules on one page, also after a fresh install of DNN, maybe < 6.2, maybe < 6.0. So the problem comes with the update.

Best wishes
