I am working on a site temporarily at http://andersonrifles-com.web28.winsv....  I have the menu set up but under the menu are links to the home and a back button.  I want to remove these.  Is there a way to do this?

they're a part of the skin so you will need to either edit the html (if the skin is html based) and reparse the skin via admin->skins, or else edit the relevant ascx and remove the content i.e. in the ascx content you're removing the lines i've highlighted below
<div id="dnncontent">
   <div class="dnnbreader FullPane">
    <a href="
http://andersonrifles-com.web28.winsvr.net/Home.aspx" class="backhome"></a>
    <a onclick="history.back()" class="tabback" title="Back">&nbsp; &nbsp; Back</a>
    <div class="breader">
     <span id="dnn_dnnBreadcrumb_lblBreadCrumb"><a href="
http://andersonrifles-com.web28.winsvr.net/Home.aspx" class="breadcrumb">Home</a></span>

    </div>
   </div>

I am very new to dotnetnuke but I believe it is in the ascx.  How do you go about reparsing it?  Is this something I do within DNN or need Visual Studio for?

you dont need to reparse the ascx (you only need to reparse if using html as dotnetnuke converts a html skin to an ascx one) - to edit an ascx just use any text editor such as notepad .
