Hi, can someone help me out on getting a dnn 6.2 site to production. is there any whitepaper about it? Also, how do I change the database source location from my DNN site to the database on the production environment?

Hi,

You need to change the web.config file located at the root of your website. Look for "SiteSqlServer" in tag. Modify the connection string to match your production server's sql database and save this web.config file back to the root location of the website.

Hope it serves the purpose and is better than reading a whole documentary on moving to production. BTW, I do not know about any such document in DNN yet.

to move a site, start adding the new domain address as portal alias in DNN Admin > Site Settings menu item. Copy all files and the database to the target system, make sure to configure the app pool using same .net version and settings. adjust both connection strings in web.config to meet new database address and sql server login. browsing your new site should now show up the website as before.

Hi Sebastian,

I tried what you told me but now Im getting an error that I have no clue how to work out,

Im able to connect to the Data Base but I copy the file over the hosting piece I have, I did make sure all the settings were correct.

Where can I look for information about a message so generic. This is the error:
