I want to customize the behavior of the Repository module.  For creating a new module, I understand that I just need to install the DNN Install package and create the new project in Visual Studio.  I have installed the Repository source code version into my DNN dev site.  I have set debug to true in web.config.  I can't set a break point because I can't locate the debug symbols.

Do I need to start with the DNN source package to do this?

hi chris

- open the website project in visual studio

- add existing project

- select repository module's .csproj file

after this both projects, website and repository source project will be visible in single solution.

- remove the reference of repository module from dnn website

- add reference in dnn website > select repository project from projects tab. this action will add reference of repository source into your dnn website.

now build solution and then you can start debugging.

if you want to create your own fork of an existing open source module, make sure to adopt the namespace and friendly names, not to conflict with the original module.
