Hello

I have successfully created websites with DNN. Now I got an idea to create an intranet and I am done with it, but my intranet is online. So it is more like a website.

But how can I set this site to be opened only by certain computers and not all computers that has internet connection?

Best regards

Benjamin

Hi Benjamin,

This can be done in many ways to do this, but there are only few options for each such problem. This is because it depends on the hosting environment you have, like, it is hosted within a server at your premises in the same network, or it is hosted on your private hosting server, or it is on cloud hosting etc.

It can be suggested based on these details only.

By 'intranet' it sounds like you should be hosting the website in a server within your own local network. It looks confusing as in 'intranet is online'! If it is accessible online, it is surely not an intranet.

Thanks Ravi.

I have my own servers. How to do it?

Are there anywhere any threads, blogs etc about it?

you may easily create an intranet by using a server inside your venue and using local dns to provide an alias like "intranet". but if you want your members to be able to access the intranet whereever they are, make all pages accessible by registered users only. Use AD provider to sync users and roles.

Thanks Sebastian.

Hmm, thats what I did for now. I made the site only accessble to my users. Only reason why I would like it to not being online, is that that I am affraid of someone hacking the site. Or that users are able to misuse information from the site, while they are at home.

What would you suggest? and how hard/easy is it to hack a dotnetnuke site? What can be done to improve security?

Best regards
