I restored a deleted portal by restoring the database to last night's version and also the file system via a backup I had.  Now when I try to see the portal I get a 404 error.  Also, I see the db entries in dbo.portal and dbo.portalalias but when I go to host via another portal I do not see the portal listed.

Can anyone help?  It would be greatly appreciated.

Mike, what else is going on? It sounds like you're also in the middle of some URL or DNS changes? Under normal circumstances a DB and file restore will completely return a DNN state to it's previous condition.

please review (uncommented) connection string in web.config file, to make sure you are looking at the correct database. Most likely you are looking at a different database as in use.

Thanks for the suggestions.  I found that I was restoring the wrong db.

I then restored the correct one.  I then wanted to point my old site to a new site within DNN.  I changed the portal id in the portal alias table but it's still pointing to the old site. Argg.

after editing data in the database you need to restart the application (pool) in order to clear cached data.
