Is this some kind of bug?

Hi Mariette,

I am getting exactly the same problem with DNN4.0.2 on my site.

It's stopping Google from indexing my site so is a hugely critical bug for us.

We've been able to reproduce the issue on demand using Poodle Predictor (http://www.gritechnologies.com/tools/spider.go) which simulates a GoogleBot engine.

We get these error's back 500 Can't connect to www.mywebsite.org.uk:80 (Bad hostname '
www.mywebsite.org.uk')

You can get through some of the time initially, then the server just starts generating these 500's saying Bad hostname! The problem seems to occur when you switch from the front page to any other page. Once it happens you have to wait a couple of minutes before it will give you access again.

Does anyone have any experience of this???

I should have added we're seeing the same error as you in the DNN log viewer

I've a copy of mariette's site, I'll try to reproduce this error over the weekend and determine the cause. I believe it is skin related, with one or more elements incorrectly using parent paths (../) to move outside their webroot.

I've been getting this as well, ever since switching to asp.net 2.0 early this year.  I've brought it up on the forums a number of times but I never pushed it hard because I didn't realize it was preventing Google from spidering us.  But, I just checked and it is indeed causing the problem with Google --- which makes this a very high priority item.

Thanks for helping, Cathal!
