After updating our DNN from 5.x to 6.1.5 we're no longer able to export an portal template. The upgrade went okay and everything works fine under DNN 6.

The site has 1000+ portals but when we want to create a new portal template the combobox (where you select a specific portal) stays empty. (this worked before with the same amount of portals.

any suggestions what could have changes between versions?

A few things to check.

1.) See if there are any errors being reported to the Event log
2.) Give it at least 10-30 seconds to load, just to make sure it isn't a delay.
3.) If this is right after the upgrade do a recycle of the application

No there is no error in the event log

2.) Give it at least 10-30 seconds to load, just to make sure it isn't a delay.< /p>

I've waited 3 minutes but no succes

3.) If this is right after the upgrade do a recycle of the application

It's not direct after upgrade and recycle doesn't seem to make any difference

It's for a customer with an DNN professional license and I'm made a backup to a test-environment (and get the red warning "You are using an unlicensed and unsupported version of DotNetNuke Professional Edition. Please contact sales@dnncorp.com for information on how to obtain a valid license.")  Could that cause the problem?

Hello Mitchel,

This problem was not solved by installing a professional developer's license in the test environment. What's more, in the Event Log there's the possibility of showing the entries for a single portal, but here too the combobox which should have contained the list of portals is empty (except for the choice "All"). Somehow these portal comboboxes are prevented from being filled, but silently, without an exception in the event log.

Could this be due to changes in tables and/or columns? What can we check after the upgrade from 5.6.6 to 6.1.5?

Well, this proved to be a localization issue. The PortalLocalization table contained entries for nl-NL (Dutch) only. After copying these rows to en-US (English), the comboboxes do list all the portals. The system default language is en-US though the site default language is nl-NL for every portal. I'm not sure why the en-US entries in the PortalLocalization table are needed, but it works now.

Greetings,

Jan van der Gaag
