That's what I thought. I'm having trouble getting my hosting company to understand what I'm trying to tell them. I'll try again.

The hosting company says that the permissions are correct. They recommended that I recycle the application pool before I run the upgrade. Do you think that would work? Is there some way that I can check the permissions on my end? I don't think my FTP program shows the actual permissions and I can't find anything in the hosting control panel that will let me see or change them.

 Thanks for the help.

Do you have a Control Panel, like Plesk or something ?

Thanks for the reply.

My hosting company is DiscountASP.net (not my choice). They have a custom built control panel that does give you some pretty good control over the site and database but I haven't been able to find anything that shows permissions on individual files or allows you to change them. You can create a user and allow them read/write permissions on specific directories but that's it as far as I can tell.
