Hello,

I'm new to dnn and wish to use it to create my current project which is online auction website.

I'm not sure how to set connection with my database. As far I can see in all the tutorials, while creating a new module I could create installation sql script and than some script to get access to my data.

Although I'm used to Entity Framework and I'm just wondering if I could just create DLL project with Entity and add references in all my custom modules, by this way it's really fast to create and deal with database and code is self-generated.

Disadvantage is that third people can't use my modules, because they would need to generate data tables separably and with lots of unrelated data but let's say I won't like to publish my modules.

Would You think that would be good strategy considering my situation ? I don't want to make some big mistake at the beginning ;)

Thanks for answering,

Others would only need to regenerate your Entity-class in case they're using an(other) objectqualifier, ánd if your module utilizes the objectqualifier to install and use it's required SQL-objects (be it tables, views, stored procedures, etc).

Brandon Haynes has created a LINQ to SQL, and lateron also an Entity Framework adapter for DotNetNuke, enabling you to use either of those techniques in your modules, whilst still fully supporting DNN's objectqualifier-feature.

I, however, unlike the LINQ to SQL adapter, personally haven't been able to get the Entity Framework adapter to work yet.
