I am currently using Microsoft WebMatrix and IISExpress 7.5 as my web server in my development environment. When I installed WebMatrix, a folder under My Documents called My Web Sites was created and all of my DNN sites are residing here. At this time, I am planning on using this set up to host my web sites as well since all of my users will be coming in using my server's ip address and not an address on the internet (i.e. 192.178.0.203:34568 instead of www.mysite.com).

Are there any security risks setting up my site like this? What would the advantage of using full IIS and putting my sites in the inetpub folder be?

if you want to use your local PC as server, I strongly suggest enabling IIS web hosting feature of Windows vista/7 professional and create your websites using it.

It is definitely what Sebastian says... - except maybe for a small intranet solution in a company of 5-10 members, a lot of trust to each other and a good firewall solution ;-)

Best wishes

Thanks guys. Is it possible to use full IIS along with SQL Server Express?

Well, beside the fact that you need an Enterprise agreement with Microsoft, at least two employees with some technical certification about Windows Server, SQL Server and IIS administration, this constellation only works with DotNetNuke Premium Edition. ;-)

Sorry, could not resist... Actually, there is no problem, sure, it works fine.

Best wishes
Michael
