Aloha,

          I am wondering if it is 1) possible, 2) advisable 3) worth the effort (not knowing how much that effort would be )- To do the following;

         I'd like to try out several of the shopping cart modules on a single (or multiple) local-host install(s). I've seen reference to multiple portals, but I am not clear if this applies to what I have in mind. I also am not very clear about the implications / ramifications of any particular direction I go.(I know. I'll learn through experience :-).)

I have DNN Community 6.2.1 installed and running. could I just do installs to /wwwroot/ dotnetnuke_2. and then to dotnetnuke_3 and so on. And then install a shopping cart module to each. Are there any considerations for SQL or anything else?

I do have several other computers I could do local installs on if I need to go that route.

Any advice, gratefully accepted.

 Mahalo,

you may either create a dnn install on localhost and add multiple child sites, which will reside at localhost/dnn2 and localhost/dnn3 etc. (if you choose using DNN2 and DNN3 as child names). If you want to prevent any interdependency you should use dedicated installs per ecommerce solution. I suggest using customization of system32/drivers/etc/host (using a text editor): uncomment the line with localhost and add (separated by tab) additional aliases like DNN2 and DNN3. Bind your additional websites each to one of those names and install DNN and your module. you may access the site locally by http://dnn2 etc.

You can do it either way, it's your choice.
