Wondering if anyone has been faced with this before?  My company wants to thin down the amount of tabs or pages on our website but don't want to delete them permanently but more of a Archive Feature that would be a different portal that outside search engines and folks have no access to the data.

Currently thinking of just creating a local DNS entry for the archive portal that when selected on the live site they will updated to close to the same setup as the live site.

Thanks for any ideas.

you can delete the pages and they will go to the recycle bin (admin->recycle bin), where they can be undeleted at a later point. Beyond that you can change the permissions so they're not visible to users
