Hello!

Our company wants to approach a CM project involving 10,000 simultaneous users. The CM is retrieval-only from office (data editing will be made by the much smaller back office. We works mostly with SharePoint but for this project I want to use the DNN. Is it possible to hold 10000 simultaneous users with DNN? Was such a project implemented by somebody?

Thanks in advance,

Michael

yes, it is possible but you need a lot of hardware as logged in users consume a few KB of ram each (with cached user records and the overhead in asp.net of authenticated users) - if the content is available to anonymous users rather than authenticated users you need significantly less. In either case I recommend you set up a load test on your hardware as there are too many permutations with a site for anyone to give a setup I would trust without testing

That's good to know - thanks Cathal...

Do you happen to have any advice on good ways to load test the cache system in DotNetNuke? For example is there a way I can simulate 10,000 users being online?

Thanks,

Mike

there are a number of load testing tools described at http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1224888/how-do-you-load-test-your-asp-net-applications
