Greetings,

I have moved a DNN installation from one production server to a new one. The DNN site files were simply copied. The database was backed up and restored over a blank database on the new server.

Whenever I browse to the site, DNN insists on trying to reapply the latest upgrade to the site. The process crashes due to trying to insert duplicate keys. I've tried this with the same results with a 5.4 and a 5.6 version.

If I disable auto upgrade in the web.config file, I just get the Under Construction page.

Interestingly, moving the site somehow also broke the original installation on the old server.

Any suggestions on getting past this roadblock?

Thanks!

Getting the exact same thing myself. Getting the "This site is currently unavailable" page. Auto upgrade to False.Connection Strings are correct because I've had a previous DNN site up here before.

 Looking forward to help too!

Thanks

I have also now tried a clean install of 5.6.8. Basically the same problem: the installation is successful, but when I try to access the new portal, the installation process starts over with "Installing Version: 05.00.00" and crashes trying to insert duplicate values into the Version table in the database.

This leads me to believe that, even though DNN is writing version numbers into the databse, it is not successfully reading them. What leads DNN to believe that it needs to rerun the installation script?!

The install is on Windows Server 2008/IIS7.5. DNN is in the DefaultAppPool which has Modify rights to the DNN folder, as well as the database folder.

Thanks for your help!
Jerry

Ciaran,

I finally managed to get the install loop to stop by changing the app pool pipeline mode from integrated to classic. Now if I could just get my Active Directory authentication to work!

Jerry
