Do you know why when we are trying to move our websites to a new server (from 2003 to 2008) we are getting the link /install/underconstruction.htm?

All we are doing is:

  • Backing-up database on old server
  • Restoring it with the same name and same db owner on new server
  • Copying all files to the new server
  • Creating an entry into IIS7 for the new site
  • Creating new application pool
  • Redirecting DNS to our new IP address

.... and then we get the error specified.  Crazy!!!  Any thoughts or where to direct us.  We are in severe need of a solution as we have client sites which will be down soon.

Thanks,
Dennis

Check the SQL connection string in the web.config that it is pointing to the correct location and using a valid username/password. Also check to see if you can connect to the database with the same details.

I am able to connect to the database with the username and password credentials via SQL Server Studio.  Very peculiar!!
