That was the answer!  I had the same scenario this morning in DNN6.2.6, where upon login with a Host account, the site logged in inside the login module window, yet closing the window and returning to the main screen I wasn't logged in.  When I tried to log in again, the login window opened and revealed that I was still logged in inside the login window, but not in the main browser window.  I attempted restarting the app by making changes to the web.config as Bill suggested, but this didn't work.   I then added www. to the url in the browser address window and when the screen refreshed I was logged in correctly.

Thanks for the suggestion.

This was using chrome.

hello bill

i have also faced this problem when i have installed dnn blog module5.0  when to go page that has blog module and try to login then same problem occurs
