Hi,

Last night I used the web matrix installer to set up DNN on my local machine without issue. Nice, neat solution. However, I did notice during the download process that there are only two setup packages, both of which are fully automated.

I'm planning to use DNN to create a website which will eventually need to be moved to a remote host somewhere. Currently, said host hasn't even set up the facilities required to run DNN (don't ask) and I have no idea how much administrative access I'm going to get to the box when it's done.

I'm a bit worried that I'm going to invest a lot of time and energy in working locally and then be unable to move it, or to get people at the hosting company to do it for me. I had originally naively assumed that "setup" would involve downloading a package of aspx files, dll's and DB setup scripts I could run remotely if necessary. However it now looks like I'm either going to have to get someone at the hosting end to run one of the installer packages for me, or to shift a bunch of .db files around.

What's the best option here? Should I sit on my hands until I get some sort of access to work remotely on the host? Or is transferring an already-built site a valid option?

Cheers,

Matt
