I am having the same issue - using 7.00.03. I put [User:FirstName] [User:LastName] in the Display Name Format and get an error. I figured it was because I'm not entering the code correctly. I've also tried "[FIRSTNAME][LASTNAME]" and "[FIRSTNAME] [LASTNAME]" but still get the error.

That's interesting, as it looks completetly correct. I never had issues with that.

Please look into your event log if there are any indications that can help us finding out why this happens.

text is case sensitive and requires to use token [FIRSTNAME], [LASTNAME] or [EMAIL]

This morning I put [FIRSTNAME] [LASTNAME] into the Display Name Format field.

Then I navigated to the Registration page, which gave me this error message: "A critical error has occurred. Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation."

When I then removed the text from the Display Name Format field, the Registration page showed up fine.
