Bill, to disable injection of language, go to Languages in admin menu, click "module settings" in Manage menu of the module and on the last tab, disable "include language parameter in URL".

Hey Sebastian,

Wow, that almost worked, at first it appears to be the answer, but if I then pay close attention to details... its not working 100%!

If I am logged out and I use the flag selectors to change the language it still injects the xx-xx into the url until the another page is selected. They can therefore change the language on the page and walla... there is the xx-xx magically appears again!

When logged in.it does the same!

Trying to disable the flags by de-selecting Allow users to choose interface language doen not remove the FLAG selectors on the layout but only removes the drop down box on the admin panel for users when logged in .  But the admin panel drop down doesnt work consistently! Sometimes it changes and sometimes it does not trigger a translation and the URL doesnt change either? It is like that function is totally dead!

Is this possible to correct these mis-behavings or is it a bug ...

Thanks,  Bill

Bill,
if language parameter gets injected though including parameter in url is disabled, this would be a bug, please log into the public issue tracker at http://support.dotnetnuke.com.
Please be aware, that content localization is distinguishing between two language settings: Content Language and Interface Language, "Allow users to choose interface language" does affect second one only. to disable content language selector, you need to remove language skin object from skin or disable additional languages in Admin > Languages.
I still don't understand, how you implement multilanguage support in your website.

Sebastion,

The screen is a mix of content, controls and labels that are all translated !

If I am a user or and administrator/Editor/super user - there always labels and content that are the common factor. Even a public user or a user with elevated rights share these common factors. A Label is a system entity that has a textual value... like the username identifier or the address identifier... these values are then replaced by the system with the string value to that system identifier (field name) and the translated value is the ultimate winner.

So with that horrible example (sorry for the obvious) I can provide two pictures.  One is a danish logged user and the same user switching to english....  The content (not a system identifier) is always in dansih.... but the fileds (identifiers that identify what the text is)  are in two languages... english and in danish.

The arrows in the first picture show what is changing (fields / identifiers)  and that is all I need... I have no need to date for multilingual sites (Content in different languages) yet... but it will surely come...

*** There is a problem with the image manager in this forum and I can not upload a picture, therefore I have provided 2 links

http://it-koncern.dk/support/translat...

http://it-koncern.png/support/transl...

And yes, the url is injected when I click on the flag... but gets reverted back to a clean url as soon as I change url location... until I click the flag again.  So i will report this as a bug... isnt it also a bug if when using the drop down box that no change occurs... ????

Best Reagrds,

Bill

Bill,
separation of Content Language and Interface Language makes sense, e.g. for a danish admin, who gets the task to fill in chinese translations (e.g. from an external translation service) into the proper fields on the web site, where even position of buttons may be switched, therefore UI language by default remains in user preferred language for editors in edit mode.
If language skin object does not properly work, please log a bug as well. Thank you!

Cheers from Germany,
Sebastian Leupold
