Hi,

Firstly, I'd like to say that I have been searching high and low for a CMS with windows authentication and group synch with Active Directory - and DNN comes up trumps so far!!

I have got the authentication working - I use the Windows Authentication (auto-logon). These are the problems I am experiencing and I wonder if anyone can help me out...

  1. If a user decides to click the logout button, they cannot login unless they use the login form. (alternatively they could use the /admin/security/windowssignin.aspx URL. Is there any way I can change the login link to point to the windowssignin.aspx page?
  2. I can see users being added to the user list in the form of DOMAINNAME/username - this is fine, I have no problem with that, but when you view a user, their Display Name is not being updated.
  3. Also.. when you view the Profile for the user the following error is displayed:
    A critical error has occurred.
Conversion from string "" to type 'Integer' is not valid.

If anyone could shed any light, that would be great...

thanks

Baronne

Hi,

I'm in the same boat as Baronne on points 1 and 2.  If any DNN gurus could point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.

I must say -- after a lot of checking things out... I've unfortantely had to turn away from DNN and look towards SharePoint Services. It just works.... it's Microsoft and it rocks - it ties in with AD and just does what it's supposed to do.

Also with the new SharePoint Services 2007 Beta out... I'm gonna check it out in the next few days and see how the new version is shaping up.

I currently extensively use sharepoint for document and team management and can't fault it in this task.    The problem with sharepoint in my implementation is that I need to work with students(16-17 year olds) and they find it sterile and lacking the newer web 2.0 elements that they are used to.  That is where DNN excels as I can easily provide a vibrant and feature rich web app that easily engages this year group.

As I sit on a large MS AD site I find the only way to deploy DNN sucessfully is that it works seemlessly with AD and hence I would very much like to be able to solve this AD integration issue and deliver this DNN experience to all my students.

So can anyone help with this issue as I would love to give my students a DNN experience?

To log back in to DNN (tried on 4.3.2) without having to use username password in AD:

1. Create page (hidden) called login and add a html module to it. Write Re-direct script to go back to your site (http://www.irt.org/articles/js021/index.htm)

2. go to Admin>>Site Settings>>Advanced Settings and change your login page to the page you just created.

3. your login button will log you in with AD credentials
