I have my website on my production machine which is a virtual machine with a local ipaddress and an external static ip address. We are running the site with Microsoft WebMatrix, SQLExpress and IISExpress. The internal ip address is 172.31.1.101 while the external ip address is 204.92.21.151.

I would like to be able to access the website both internally from machines on the same network and externally from machines anywhere on the internet. For this reason, I have set up the following site aliases on my site:

172.31.1.101:33097

localhost:33097

204.92.21.151:33097

When I change the URL in WebMatrix to 172.31.1.101:33097 in WebMatrix and try to access the site from another machine on the same network I am successful.

However, when we try to access the site on an external machine with the external static ipaddress and port number 204.92.21.151:33097 we get rejected.

How do I enable external requests for my website with our static IP address like the one above? Do I need to make any changes to the applicationhost.config file? If so, what changes need to be made here?
