Is it possible in dotnetnuke to apply a different skin depending on the screen resolution. Similar to what can be done in media queries

For example when i go to a site on an :

Ipad select Skin A

Kindle Skin B

Iphone Skin C etc?

I have played with media queries in dotnetnuke and all seems to work however the menu is where I become unstuck.  How can I change to a different menu skin? Depending on screen size?

Thanks

Dave

The problem is that rendering a different menu structure would be processed on the server.
In principle on the server side you don't know what the resolution of the client device is.

There are two ways to find out, one is via JavaScript with which you post the resolution to the server, the other is through a list of known user agents and their resolution. (which is what in essence happens if you upgrade the DNN browser detection).

Both are not ideal IMO.

The best way is to create your menu with a "simple" unordered list menu and change it's appearance through the media queries or if needed JavaScript.

I have a simple example here: http://demo.40fingers.net/mobile/Swit...

It loads an extra CSS file using our Stylehelper skin object, but you can do the same with Media Queries

Hi I just spotted that dotnentnuke comes with a redirect option depending on screen size: On advanced you can add rules for different screen sizes.

This maybe a better approach then trying to restyle the menu using media queries. Normally what i would do is hide my mobile menu when in deskop view and vice versa using media queries. I suppose i could try this with  MEdai queuries which do you think is the better approach? Use Media queries or dontnetnuke redirect option?

thanks

dave
