Has anybody installed DNN 4 with Windows Server 2003 running under Microsoft VIrtual Server R2?

I have created a new Windows Server 2003 as a virtual server.   All that is installed in this server is the OS and all patches. I have followed the Installation Guide (as I have done before) to setup the DNN and IIS 6.  I have an external SQL Server 2000 box running the database.

When I browse to the DNN web page for the install I get the 'Page not found error'.   I am installing from the DNN source files.

I am using Windows Server 2003 Std edition with SP1 and all patches MS has available.

By default IIS 6 and .NET Framework 2.0 are loaded.

No other applications are loaded or installed. All that is installed is the OS and patches.

The web.config has the entries for connecting to SQL Server active, but the SQL Express entries are commented out.  I did the same steps to web.config before on a different box and DNN worked/installed.

The Installation Guide is part of the Document.zip available for download from DNN.

Thanks for your help

I have DNN 3.1.1 runnning on R1 of virtual server with no problems.

Can you ping the IP address of the VS?

Setup is the same as installing on actual hardware, sound like there is a network connectivity issue with the VS.

Except for the fact that it is on a virtual server and on a domain it is exactly the same problem I had with a Windows 2003 Server before in my previous posts.
I can ping the virtual server without problem. I can get on the internet with this setup. I can remote into the virtual server from any other box on the domain.
And I am using the same web config from the 2003 Server, with changes to account for database and user id's.
One difference I saw was that the ASP.NET properties under Properties of the web site in IIS, is that there is no entry for .NET 1.1. Which on the other 2003 server there is such an entry. Along with the .NET 2.0.
My other box had the same problem until I reinstalled the OS from scratch.
Since this has happened twice now I think that something in the install process needs .NET 1.1 when installing on a 2003 Server.
Thanks
