you should not delete any of the app_code subdirectories, if you are using a module with a subfolder of app_code, remove its content, otherwise remove .dll file of your module and the only page to fail will be the page, on which your module resides.

Dear sumy,

The error is caused by something wrong returned by

 DotNetNuke.Services.Personalization.PersonalizationController.LoadProfile

The result is expected to be valid XML, which is not in your case. 

Maybe it is just enough to delete your cookies. Did you test with more than one browser? 
Otherwise I would bet on broken data (unvalid xml) within the column ProfileData in the Profile table.

Can we please move this thread out of the context of the XML module? There is no relation.
