there must be an issue accessing the database with the connection strings in your web.config. check the account and make sure, it has a user mapping with dbowner permission for your new database.

True user mapping is vital.

Try to use the upgrade approach

/Install/Install.aspx?mode=upgrade

and not the wizzard.

Salem,

 Thanks for getting back.

This is neither an upgrade nor a new install.  The wizard should not even be appearing.

Sebastian mentions to make sure user mapping is to db owner, which it is.

I'll have to get to that tonight.  What I'll try on the known working site is SQL Auth.  That will prove the ISSI User works.

Thanks,

Mike

Gentlemen,

Duplicated the malfunction! Yes, it somehow IS the ISSI_User account.   I got the same malfunction when I used that account on the known good working dev site.

So ... I'll sort out why that's not working.  I do have the user name, password set correct and the login is set for db owner.

Didn't think of trying the new user account for SQL Auth on the DEV site to verify it was the cause.  Anyhow, this should be solved quickly now.

Thanks,

Mike

Here is more info on what happened.

In the process of restoring databases several times, the "Enforce Password Policy" got re-checked.

Well, what was happening was the user had too short a password.  All I know is the issue , duplicated by adding the user to the dev site, disappeared after trying to reset the password and getting length issues, etc and the finally unchecking that box.  At that point, the Dev site worked.

The database got removed and replaced but the Login, created in the Security area of course didn't get removed and replaced.  Anyhow, unchecking the box, resetting the password and putting this into the Dev web config, it works.

Now I'm getting the domain can't be found for the production site but ... that's improvement from where it was.

Another gotcha on UserId is, it has to be spaced to User Id.  That was another issue I didn't expect.

Should be able to resolve this now.
