You might try this fix, by putting the CONTROL PANEL in your skin.

I just encountered this same problem about the Dark Knight skin working for the page the Journal module is on, but my own skin does not allow postings to the Journal, unless you are an administrator. Fortunately, I set it up with only the Journal on this page, so I don't have the other problem.

See Fabio's solution, which worked for me:

add to the skin
<%@ Register TagPrefix="dnn" TagName="CONTROLPANEL" Src="~/Admin/Skins/controlpanel.ascx" %>

and then

< dnn : CONTROLPANEL runat="server" id="cp" IsDockable="True" />

Thank you for the tip, ony problem is the Activity Feed pages including the journal is using the 2-Column-Right-SocialProfile-Mega-Menu style sheets that was included by default. I just double checked the ascx page and everything is still coded on the page. It will be a very nice solution though if it is as simple as two lines of code. The front public side of the wesite is working fine and is using a custom style sheet, but for the Activity Feed pages I used the default style sheet and just edited one piece of the css page to remove the mega menu from the top of the page. I put the css style back and recycled the app, but it had no effect on the issues.

Finally fixed my issue. I went to each page that was a child of Activity Feed and unchecked the inherits from page option. The last page done was Activity Feed itself. I then manually configured the options wanted (unchecked all users and selected registered users and subscribers) with view only access. I then applied these settings to the Activity Feed page and then to all child pages. I then went back and rechecked the inherits from page option on each page. Finally, I went to the modules I had setup to give registered users edit access and told them to inherit from the page as well. Now everything seems to be working fine, except registered users still can not see the user profile information that is set to members only, but I think the users can live without that.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. The ideas helped point to me in the direction I needed to go.
