For a project I'm working on I need to intercept (via an event or something else) when the users logs in and out. I need to do some special steps on login and logout, before presenting the user with the next page.

How can I do that without touching the core code?

One more question out side this one: on DNN 6.2, on the Notification/Messages module I need to show only the Notification part and hide the Messages part, how can I do that? and how can I disable the internal messajing system (without disabling the bulk email system to be able to send normal emails) and enable the notification system only?

On one of my clients portal, they dont want to let the users send internal messages to each other, just let them see their notifications. That is by portal, not the entire DNN instance, I have 3 portals on the same instance for that customer, and they only want to disable the internal message system on one of them, but with the internal notifications and normal emails enabled.

 Thanks Sebastian, but by doing that it hide both the message part and the notification part. is there another module to show only the notifications for the current user??
