Hi all,

I've inherited a site running DNN 4.9.1 which has started having some problems. To my understanding the site was upgraded from a Windows 2003 IIS6 to Windows 2008 R2 server recently and now randomly the site will stop responding. No error pages no event logs, and pretty much nothing to go from. The site just keeps trying to load with no information coming up. If I add a static HTML page this loads but any page that is linked to the database hangs whilst trying to load.

I believe it to be a database issues as there are 2 other sites on the same server connecting to the same SQL server which continue to work when this site is down. Both are also using DNN although a different version.

Are there known problems or are there any issues with IIS 7.5/configuration changes that need to be made? SQL Server is 2008 R2 on Windows 2008 R2.

Any help would be really appreciated as currently this is causing me quite a headache and incredibly difficult to troubleshoot.

Thanks in advance.

I am not aware of such a problem, but DNN 4.9.1 is rather old and there are known security issues, you should at least upgrade to 4.9.5 immediately, before considering upgrade to a currently supported version. Are you running the site in classic or in integrated mode?

Thanks for the suggestion I'll definitely look into upgrading to 4.9.5. Changes are a little difficult to organise but always a good idea to get rid of as many security issues as possible.

The site is running in integrated mode.

Any IIS 7.5 settings that could cause any hangs?

When DNN 4.9 was released, the most recent version was IIS 6 and .Net 2.0, i.e. there might be interfering settings, no one has tested yet. You will get better support, if upgrading DNN to a more recent version´.
