Hello there,

Our system is composed of several DNN modules (i.e. each module implements "DotNetNuke.Entities.Modules.PortalModuleBase"). Some DNN pages can have several modules attached (e.g. a tree control for navigation on the left pane, the actual content on the content page, and an activity indicator on top pane).

We manage module licenses through an external tool provided by our customer which means we activate/deactivate software licenses outside the scope of the DNN app.

When the user logins, the license information is retrieved from the external tool and stored in cache.
When a module is executed i would want to check that cache info in order to assure whether the module is licensed.
If that is not the case how can i prevent the module from executing (e.g. stop page life cycle) and display an error message for instance.
One of the issues i'm facing is related to having several modules on the same page which means each module is executed and the license check is done each time.

I'm overriding PortalModuleBase.OnInit() method to accomplish this behavior.

Any thoughts on this question would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Ricardo

You may either display a warning message and/or disable "ok" button, for example.
