I would suggest taking a look at the HTTP response headers in Fiddler and in particular at the values for Content-Type, Content-Length, and Cache-Control.

What type of file is being linked - is it's Content-Type being correctly set by DNN in the LinkClick handler?

Is it's Content-Length the correct value for the file's size?

If Cache-Control is getting set to no-cache that is likely the reason for the error you get when you try to view source in the browser and may not be an indication of the underlying problem.

Thank you for suggestion from William Severance but probably it's not related to "Content-Type, Content-Length, and Cache-Control" settings.

  1. Firstly, Firefox and Google Chrome, as well as Opera, all response to LinkClick.aspx as expected  (correctly and return the requested document).
  2. Secondly, I was informed by various users that blank page was return upon clicking the link and found out that all those users were using IE and thus discovered this mystery.

I've other website runs on DotNetNuke application version 06.00.02 (72) and the LinkClick.aspx works correctly but not on this new website that runs on DotNetNuke application version 06.02.03 (141). So I've re-installed it to run on version 06.00.02 (72) and it works correctly now.
