I am about to upgrade our DNN site from version 5.1 to 6.2.3

When I extract the v6.2.3 files - the machine key inside the new webconfig file is different from my orig web.config file.

Which one should I use?

Should I keep my orig web.config and replace all other files over the existing ones?

Or do I edit the new web.config file and keep the new machine key and just amend the connection string?

And do I need to use the install wizard again - to kick start anything?

If you downloaded the upgrade, you should not have a web config file in the download - sounds like you got the full install in error.

get the upgrade, unlock the zip file if necessary and unzip copying all the files in the upgrade into the existing dnn site. Choose the option to overwrite everything when offered.

When you then visit the site address the upgrade wizard will run automatically.

You should do a full backup of the site and the database before you do the upgrade so you can roll back if something goes wrong.
