Nevermind, it's not a permanent solution. It looks like it only keeps the apostrophe off of one page at a time.

Example: If you toggle "Angela's Ashes", edit the content, toggle it back, then toggle "Philosopher's Stone", edit it, and toggle it back, "Philosopher's Stone" will be "PhilosophersStone.aspx" until the another page is toggled.

How bizarre... Still, it's better than nothing! Thanks again, Ben.

Just discoverer that if there's any "apostrophe page" in the path (menu heirarchy) to a given page, the page will have the "cant edit" problem, and the workaround doesn't work at all in this case. I'd feel better if I knew for certain that an update to 6.2.4 would fix this. As it is, we're essentially dead in the water until I get this working somehow.

I updated to 6.2.4 and it fixed the problem. I had to recreate some links to the affected pages but at least I can edit HTML content on them now. And the update was relatively painless to perform.
