I have a panic...I need a portal up for McDonald's (yes that one) and your upgrade has gone horribly wrong. Terrible terrible terrible and i have found similar problems on chat rooms. Go daddy is now recommending not using dnn because of this upgrade. I have been on the phone with them for 3 days. You guys have crushed me and I am in BIG trouble. I need help NOW.
This is one of many reviews I have found online with my exact problem.

"6.2.2 is not so good
Loved DNN until now! 6.2.2 seems to have problems, not just with IE 9, I've tried to complete the install using Firefox, Chrome, Opera and IE9, none of them will complete! Gets past the database setup then the installation just hangs. Oh, and the uninstall doesn't work either, so be prepared to recover your sites if you try to upgrade."

Please help me...I have uninstalled and re-installed multiple times and godaddy has done everything they can on their end. Now I need your help. I am going to have to make reviews of my own soon. Please help asap

Why don't you use your pre-upgrade backups to return to whatever version you started from [actually knowing that original version might change this answer] then skip 6.2.2 and upgrade directly to 6.2.3. [Make sure you upgrade using the upgrade package - not the install package]

If you still have problems with that upgrade, post here with the actual error messages produced from dnn either during the upgrade or when you try to access the site after the failure.

There are a number of questions related to the Go Daddy hosting that are probably contributing to the problem, but those can wait for the outcome of the 6.2.3 upgrade.

Simple solution - move to a web hosting provider that has a clue about DNN.

GoDaddy has a history of issues with asp.net based applications - and would be without a doubt one of the worst possible places to host a dotnetnuke based website - you will find these forums littered with comments along the theme of - MAYBE YOU SHOULD NOT HOST ON GODADDY - headed all the way up to - FOR THE LOVE OF GOD - DONT HOST WITH GODADDY.

It is the way that godaddy setup their hosting servers that is the issue - not DNN.

In the amount of time you have already wasted on the phone to them you could have moved to a real hosting provider that cares about their clients - and had the delegation of domains completed and already be running.

DotNetNuke is the most widely used asp.net based CMS solution on the internet - millions of web sites are being hosted every day on servers all over the web using it ... they all manage to keep their servers running correctly.

Have a look at powerdnn.com for one - they will even arrange for the porting of your existing site for you - all you would need to do is give then the go ahead to get started - and the next thing you know your site would be back up and running.

Cheers

Westa

Wes is right about GoDaddy. They put a lot of unnecessary barriers in the way of DNN. We can get you setup with a 15 day free trial at PowerDNN, help you migrate your site and provide a temporary URL so you can compare side by side how your site will run on our servers compared to GoDaddy and we are certain you will notice a difference. We also include a free Standard Upgrade within the first 60 days of paid service.

Feel free to contact me and mention this post and I will help you get set up.

We host more DotNetNuke websites than anyone else. Find out why.

AB,

I'll agree with what's being said - a lot of problems with hosted solutions seem to be with Godaddy.

I run DNN with a smaller hosting company with no issues, as well as running our corporate intranet and that has no issues either.

Try to restore your website from a back-up to get it running and look for a new hosting company.

Regards,
Mark
