Hello,

I ran across this thread while looking for information related to debugging 6.2 with VS 2008.  I have a problem related to what you're discussing and perhaps you can offer some advice.

Environment: I upgraded 4.9 to DNN 6.2 on Win 7, IIS 7.5, SQLExpress.

The short:  Should the AppPool run on .Net 3.5 (selecting 2.0 from the config dropdown)?  It's currently on Net 4.0 and DNN reports on the Host panel that I'm running on an old .Net version. (I presume it's confused by 4.0, or doesn't recognize it)

I had DNN running, but I have a custom module that was giving me problems.  I tried debugging DNN on VS 2008 Std and I think I had a problem with the .Net versions.  VS2008 built the site and launched Development IIS with Net 3.5, but there were errors on buid and it didn't run for debug.  Then DNN would not run directly from the machine's IIS, I presume due to a failed build or build on a different Net version than the IIS AppPool is set to (4.0).

I spent a few hours restoring DNN and debugging folder and SQL permissions to get it to work again. So, I'm sorry if I haven't given you more specific error messages because trying it again may mean messing up the installation and having to restore again.

So, should the DNN AppPool run on 3.5 by selecting 2.0 from the dropdown?
Should I be able to debug DNN on VS 2008 by building using 3.5?

Thanks for any help or pointers to any resources.  I'll keep looking anyway.
