Should there be a release.config file? I can't find one.

You might have to explain your question a little bit more.

But ... if you are talking about the update.zip version of dnn then - no - there is no need for a release.config file as the update module handles any changes that might be needed in the web.config.

release config had been included in previous versions only, when you needed to upgrade web.config manually on framework upgrades. With this modifications now being included in DNN upgrade process, there is no need to provide release.config file any longer.

Thanks. I was following directions via a post on how to configure dnn on godaddy. It was from a couple of years ago. All is well now.
