I am new to doing my own DNN install, and so far not so good! I am using winhost, and used their app tool to install DNN, and when I try to go to it, I get a runtime error with this message:

Runtime Error Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.

Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File --> <configuration> <system.web> <customErrors mode="Off"/> </system.web> </configuration>

The details of the underlying error are intentionally hidden so you will need to temporarily modify the site's web.config file to change the value of the mode attribute of the <customErrors . . . /> element from its current value - most likely "Remote" to "Off". Note that "O" is upper case and "ff" in "Off" are both lower case letters. After saving the change, again browse to the site and post the detailed error message to this thread. If the error message reveals any database server credentials or other sensitive information, replace those values with "xxxxxx" when posting here.

It would also be helpful to know what version of DNN is installed.

Alternatively, since you used the hosting providers DotNetNuke installer, you may want to submit a support ticket or otherwise contact the hosting provider for help.
