Hi

I am trying to reuse our existing user control in DNN. Its a time zone control which lets the user to select 3 time zones and display the same in the home page. Each user's preference is stored in the database.

First option:

  • Took the existing compiled control and its dll, created a zip file and installed as container.
  • It created the manifest. But it didnt work.

Second option:

  • Created a web application, included our DAL class library project also.
  • Also i inherited the user control from portalmodulebase instead of System.Web.UI.Usercontrol.Compiled and included in DNN.

But again received the following error:

Error: TimeZoneWidget is currently unavailable. DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException:

Could not load type 'TimeZoneForDnn.TimeZoneWidget'. ---> System.Web.HttpParseException:

Could not load type 'TimeZoneForDnn.TimeZoneWidget'. ---> System.Web.HttpParseException:

Could not load type 'TimeZoneForDnn.TimeZoneWidget'. --->

Here are my questions:

  1.  I am sure about my migration steps.
    1. I want to create custom user control which speaks with our DAL.
  2. When i tried adding our connection string in DNN's web.config, the whole site was down displaying config error.

Hope someone can point me in the right direction.

Thanks,

how do you want to use your control? if you want to use it in a module, you need to include it (as part or separate library project) within your module package.
