I upgraded successfully to DNN 6.2.4 but can't upload documents ... if I do, and download them, they are unreadable.

I have several Article, blog and other programs that can upload and attach files. Even if I upload a Word document via File Manager, attach a link in a blog post - it says do you want to open or download - either way, the document is not readable anymore, just gibberish. If I convert the word document to pdf, same thing - jibberish.

This worked fine in DNN 6.1.5, why did they put a file mangler in DNN 6.2.4 and how do I stop it?

Word just says "choose an encoding that makes your document readable". Why is this happening?

I tried re uploading the file about 5 times as word 97, word 2010, pdf, etc.

John,

I tried this and could not reproduce it. I guess there is something in your compression settings, either IIS, web config or - most propably - under Host :: Host settings :: Advanced Settings :: Client Resource Management. (is "Enable composite files" checked? If yes, try to uncheck it...)

(This is just a guess!)

Best wishes
Michael

Checked and enable composite files is not checked.

Here is what happens: If you upload a file via file manager, the file size is the same on server as it was on your desktop. Now if you download the same file via filemanager, the file size increases by30 or 40% and the file is unreadable.

However, if you put a link in DNN core Blog module and download the file that way, the file is fine.

It is File Manager that seems to have a file mangler option - and I would like to turn it off!

I think some of the other modules must use the same routine as File Manager for downloading files and that is why they are failing too.
