Greeting,

We are trying to use DNN 6.2.4 to manage 2 web content sites.

We follow avail guides setup the dnn under C:\inetpub\wwwroot .

Now we want to add a new site, using domain www.my.com/content , which is located somehwhere else within the server, not under the wwwroot dir.
What should I set in the Site Alias and Home Directory?

I tried few approaches, but no new files/contents created/generated by dnn in the folder.

do you really want your second website to be www.my.com/content instead of www.my.com?
In this case, www.my.com/content would be the site alias, pointing to the DNN install directory, which needs to be a virtual directory mapped INTO the website directory of www.my.com on your server, configured as an application in your IIS website.

can't get it work.

say, below are what I did and intended:

I have a local site name localhost:88
localhost:88 is an ASP.NET running 3.5, so AppPool is ver 2

1) in iis , I create a virtual dir named "content", point to 1 of the subfolder in dnn install dir:
c:\inetpub\wwwroot\dnn\test\content

2) in dnn, i add a new site, what's the site type? I tried both parent/child, no good
3) i put in localhost:88/content in site alias
4) Home dir, i left it unchanged.
the rest are default

i see no new pages created in the test\content folder, and switching to that site under dnn, give me error HTTP Error 500.19

do i need to specific any special NTFS security setting?

I suggest using a subdirectly placed directly in c:\inetpub, add a second IIS website pointing to it using an name e.g. "myDNN" grant full permission to your ASP.Net user, specified in IIS Application pool and create a localhost alias for "myDNN" in your /system32/drivers/etc/hosts table, using a text editor (don't forget to uncomment that line).
