Hmm - entering the host account didn't work for me, nor restoring from my backups as I still got the challenge response.

Have now deleted all the files and created a new database and a clean install, BUT I'm STILL getting this login.

How is this controlled? What checks are being run for this?

Are you sure you don't have windows authentication enabled in IIS? That's what will generate a challenge response.

Have you tried going to straight to an image file that will bypass the asp.net engine and serve the image directly through IIS. That will tell you where the problem might be (e.g. IIS)

No change to IIS. Only thing changed is the code in the web folder and whatever SQL changes the install has made.

Is there a way to turn this damn security off or at least bypass it?
