Hi All

Strange question, but I am hoping that it will be an easy answer, I can send out a message to everyone via DNN Newsletter, but I was hoping to make more personalised, for example start the newsletter, with

Hi Joe Bloggs

So in the newsletter I put 'Hi, [user.DisplayName]'

But it just say 'Hi' if I remove the brackets it just displays 'Hi, user.DisplayName

Hello,

The newsletter module does that... you just use tokens. So, [User:DisplayName] for example, will do what you are looking for...

If you go to 'Advanced Settings' you'll see the replace tokens option and the bulk send settings.

Edit:

Sorry - I read your thing too quickly. I think the problem is that you're using a wrong token. The token for name is [User:DisplayName] - that's "User" (colon) "DisplayName" - I think you have a period.

Mike

Newsletter is using TokenReplace feature of DNN, which requires tokens like [object:property], e.g. [user:Displayname]. You may add a format and a default value for Null, e.g. [user:Displayname|Dear {0}|Welcome Stranger]

I have played with this for the past hour or so, but still cannot get it to work, I have tried both [User:DisplayName] and [user:Displayname|Dear {0}|Welcome Stranger] with and without the square brackets, I have also went into the advanced settings and took off the replace token check box. I am being totally thick or is there something i am missing, I am using DNN v6
