I am looking for the simplest method to force download/save as to pop up when a visitor clicks the link. No idea where to start.

Kyle,

Can you make the link go directly to the document? If not, please post more details about what you're trying to do so we can assist.

The linked documents are PDF's which open in the visitor's browser almost without exception. What I am looking for is to have the link, when clicked, trigger a dialog box that offers only 2 choices - Save or Cancel. I suppose a 3 choice variation - Open or Save or Cancel, would also work.

AFAIK, DNN Documents and DNN Repository modules (http://dnndocuments.codeplex.com and http://dnnrepository.codeplex.com) do provide these options, besides, you may develop your own module, see http://aspalliance.com/259_Downloadin... and http://dotnet-snippets.de/dns/eine-da....

I was able to make this happen for a thrid party modle (Ventrian File Links) by adding a ContentDisposition = "Attachment" header to the directories hosting the files in IIS.
