Has anyone had trouble installing DotNetNuke using the Web Platform Installer recently?

A friend has tried on two separate machines and "it hangs" apparently after installing all of the prerequisites.

I tried installing that way on a local machine and am finding something similar:  after installing a bunch of SQL Server stuff it then hung and I eventually got a "not responding" state that persisted for several hours before I killed it.  I restarted the WPI and this time -- since there were no prerequisites to install -- went right to the DotNetNuke install or at least that's where it seems to be.  The progress bar indicates "Finished downloading" and the bar is solid blue.  The second progress bar, labelled "Installing" isn't doing anything, and the installer doesn't appear to be doing anything either.

I'm wondering if anyone has seen this, knows what might be going wrong, or can confirm this.

Yes. I'm evaluating DNN for the first time and did the WPI as it's typically the easiest possible way to try things out. It hung during the installation just like you're describing. I've tried the same thing on two separate dev machines and both failed.
