hi

I'm building a simple custom profile update form.  I have the following code:

DotNetNuke.Entities.Profile.ProfilePropertyDefinitionCollection m_objProperties = default(DotNetNuke.Entities.Profile.ProfilePropertyDefinitionCollection);

m_objProperties = ui.Profile.ProfileProperties;

// now get the custom value
string Position = m_objProperties.GetByName("Position").PropertyValue;

This gets a custom profile property called "Position".  This works fine for an ordinary user. However, it breaks on getting the custom value with an object ref not set error but ONLY when logged in as host.

Is this normal or am I doing something wrong?  Of course, I can handle it for this user but it doesn't seem right that this happens.

Can anyone explain?

 Its DNN 6.2.4

thanks

Gus

Gus, does your host user have a portal connection, i.e. an entry in UserPortals table with host userid and id of your current portal?

Hi Sebastian

yes, the host user has a record in UserPortals.

I have noticed that if using the core dnn profile editor for host user the custom profile properties do not show. But they show for ordinary users.

Is this a feature, an omission or a bug?

Gus
