Hi,

I am having some issues with Ajax and .NET 4.0, I have checked on my server where DNN is hosted, and checked in the Host Settings to confirm that DNN is running .NET 4.0 but I am still getting the following error when trying to access a page with a module on it.

Could not load file or assembly 'System.Web.Extensions, Version=4.1.51116.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.

Does anyone know how to fix this error?

Thanks,

Chris

according to http://forums.asp.net/t/1853529.aspx/1 this file is part of ASP.Net 4, you might need to re-install .net 4.0 - or did you upgrade already to .net 4.5 (currently not supported by DNN)?

Sebastian,

We are running 4.0, 4.5 is not installed on the server.

Looking at the link you posted, it seems like there should be something in the web.config files under the handlers section. Looking at the handlers section it seems that the website is running Version 3.5.0.0

If DNN says that it is running 4.0, shouldn't this reference in the web.config be to 4.0 and not 3.5? Is there anyway to update DNN from the website and have it fix the web.config file to have the correct reference or am I going to have to change this manually?

Chris

Chris, go to Configuration manager, load web.config and load merge script for DNN 4 from /install/config folder of your DNN. Applying the script should adjust your web.config for .Net 4.0 - please start with a backup of that file.
