I am very new to DNN but starting to get my head around it and module development. I want to create an events module that allows the portal administrator to add content created using the standard DNN page editor that are then stored in a custom sql table rather than actually creating an actual page. The idea being that later this content would be viewed by and end user. The events module would then query the database (table) for the event concerned and render the stored (static) HTML in a grid or details view control.

So two conceptual blanks on my part:

1.How to capture the html created by the portal admin.
2. How to render the output - I think that this can be done just in a asp.net detail/gridview control, but am not entirely sure.

Any suggestions much appreciated.

Regards,

Probably a good place to start is with some tutorials on module development. Mitchel Sellers' book is one good place. Chris Hammond's series of tutorials on a Task Manager Module (see the Video Library) is another.

you may create a module incorporating DNN HTML editor control, this will use website default html editor and you may simply store it in your table and display as you like. check out source code of HTML module (dnnhtml.codeplex.com or from DNN source package) to get an idea.
