Hi,

I have the AD provider working correctly except that when I access the site for the first time or after a longish period I get the windows login challange pop up and asked for my credentials, none of which work.

That in itself isn't the issue but then I get redirected to windowssignin.aspx and get a 401 error.

I believe that somehow I have to turn of automatic login and read that I can do this 2 ways.

Either put 192.0.0.1 in the autologin ip address box in the settings or comment out of the web.config.

I tried the first but have found that causes issues when the site is loading.

I don't know where in the web.config to comment out to disable autologin.

Can anybody point me to the section(s) please.

Thanks.

Jacqui.

Jaqui,

this sounds like a proxy error - please try to add the web server to the exceptions (do not use proxo on...) in your browser's proxy configuration. After that, delete the cookies from your browser, close all browser windows and try again.

In Firefox, you should also include the web server to "network.automatic-ntlm-auth.trusted-uris" (type "about:config" in Firefox's address line to go there).

To disable automatic login, goto Admin :: Extensions and edit the AD authentication provider. But I would first try to do the steps described above.

Best wishes
Michael

Hi,
Thanks for replying.
It isn't just me that is having the problem so I don't think clearing my cache/cookies or doing anything local will help, although I will give it a go sho
I have to try and disable auto login, I don't see where in the admin/extensions/settings there is for it other than to use 192.0.0.1 in the auto login ip bit, and that just seems to cause everything to hang.`
I must say though that in general the module works very well.

Jacqui,

to disable auto-login, just clear the box with IP addresses - so no client will auto-login.

Anyway: I think this is because all requests are redirected over a proxy, and so the authentication gets lost. If you add your intranet's web server address to the exceptions in your LAN configuration so that it does not use the proxy the whole thing should work (even auto-login with the AD provider). This can also be done for all users at once using a group policy.

Best wishes
Michael

Clearing the box means everybody attempts to autologin. When you get that popup you have to enter your credentials as DOMAIN\Username not just Username. If you want to get rid of that popup then the site needs to be part of either your trusted or intranet sites list for IE/Chrome (I think this works for Firefox too but I'm not 100%). This can be pushed out to your domain computers via group policy.

If you absolutely want autologin turned off then I'd use either 127.0.0.1 as the autologin IP address or in your web.config comment out any (where that line mentions the Active Directory provider).
